Entrepreneurs plan to bring ZIPS Dry Cleaners brand to Gwinnett area

A pair of entrepreneurs have announced plans to bring the ZIPS Dry Cleaners brand to the northern metro Atlanta area, including Gwinnett County, over the next five years.
Allan Boomer and Tiffany Hawkins announced plans to open 20 ZIPS locations between Interstate 20 and Gwinnett County under a franchise agreement. The pair already operates locations in the mid-Atlantic region, but they touted some ties to the Atlanta area as why they wanted to expand in this area.
“I have lived in Atlanta on two occasions in my adult life and I love the area for so many reasons,” said Tiffany Hawkins. “After opening a few locations in ZIPS’ home market of Maryland-D.C.-Virginia, we were ready to break ground in a new market and there was no question that Atlanta was our first choice.
“I know Atlanta. Again, I love Atlanta; and the people of this city deserve a one-price, high-capacity dry cleaner that is modern, service-oriented and focused on cutting costs — without cutting the quality.”
Hawkins and Boomer are still finalizing locations so it’s not yet clear how many ZIPS will be located in Gwinnett. The ZIPS Dry Cleaners brand touts a flat price of $2.29 per item and promises same-day service. It also offers a hanger recycling program, uses 100% biodegradable plastic bags and is working to reduce water usage and waste production in an effort to be more environmentally friendly.

“Atlanta is one of the top markets targeted for growth by ZIPS Franchising LLC … The company is dedicated to becoming a national garment care brand and No. 1 in market share in each of the markets it serves.”
Boomer said, “We are extremely excited about the opportunity to bring ZIPS to a thriving new market. In analyzing the competitive landscape, Atlanta was the No. 1 market on our radar. It is a great market with great people. Our team has long ties to the region and we are really looking forward to building a significant presence in Atlanta.”
